A book title that includes the words “laws that will change your life” is normally, at best, a marketing ploy that leaves a reader peeved at having wasted hard earned cash and at worst a highly deceptive, if not damaging, choice of words, that sends a person on a wide goose chase of temporary change which inevitably fails and thus makes the more permanent, and necessary, change all the more difficult. Not the case here. The Big Picture, if you have just arrived at the moment of wanting to improve your skills, health and mindset, will change your life by simply mapping out a path built on consistency, commitment and self-control.
Tony Horton’s advice isn’t rocket science and it certainly isn’t poetry. There are no new nuggets of wisdom. Yet there is a lot of common sense said in a down-to-earth way that will challenge your thinking, your attitude and how you hold yourself accountable. By seeing the big picture for what it is, you will move more mountains out of your way and see that most of them were mole hills to start with! You will be more positive and spend less time dwelling or feeling sorry for yourself and more time exercising and feeling great, what’s not to like?
Ultimately, this book is for anyone who wants to get their life in order and switch from the passenger to the driving seat of life. How do I know this? I am living proof of it.
“Get your body in a healthy place, and the rest will start to make sense.”
“Improvement and growth occur when you do things repeatedly and often. Stopping and starting sporadically kills the momentum you need to succeed.”
“A shallow purpose isn’t going to get you from point A to point B. It gets you from point A to point A and one-tenth.”
The Big Picture: 11 Laws That Will Change Your Life was the first step of my journey of life learning and mind-body-spirit consciousness– a satori moment where I began to realise the illusion of the separation of self and the universe. It helped me find my life’s purpose of “being more able.” I now choose what I eat, how I move, act and react more consciously and a bounty of benefits has come rushing in.
This book was so impacting that I read it twice! This was the first time I had ever finished a book to start it all over again immediately. If I had to offer any advice it would be read this book whilst doing any workout programme from Beachbody’s P90X series. I was doing the original P90X and this really helped me gain the synergetic benefits of really living out what I was reading. It was the start of a habit creating process which made the changes stick.
They just keep coming! But one of the most important ones has to be this website and the community that you, my dear Field Agents, are helping me create. I would absolutely love you to send me a Field Note if this book resulted in a huge bookquake for you.
